INTEGRATIONS?CHAPTER 08
Terminal Telemetry & Cognitive Pacing
Privacy-preserving keystroke interval analysis, git branch detection, and how Kanna mirrors developer focus.
Kanna’s telemetry engine provides subtle, non-intrusive companionship by observing your workflow rhythms while maintaining strict privacy boundaries.
Privacy Safeguards
The telemetry subsystem implements hard constraints:
- Zero Content Sniffing: The daemon reads character delta timestamps (
Δt), never the characters themselves. - No Git Code Uploads: Git hooks only check current branch names and commit message word counts.
- No Webcam or Audio Recording: All physiological assessments are inferred purely from keyboard cadence and compile results.
Cadence Metrics
TERMINAL CODE
WPM Burst Variance:
[||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||] Steady Flow (CH.01 HERO Active)
Pause Duration > 45s:
[------------------------------] Idle Reflection (Avatar relaxes posture)
High Backspace Velocity:
[|||||||| ] Refactor Burst (Subtle amber rim flare)
Hooking into Shell Environments
Add this single line to your ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc:
TERMINAL CODE
eval "$(kanna init -)"
This transparently registers a pre-exec hook that streams timing intervals directly into the local Unix domain socket.
